It’s been a few weeks….

Hi all,

It’s been a few weeks since I last updated this. Has been a busy time with working, football and just general laziness at times! haha. So what has been happening?

Well on the football front we are two games in to the seasons. One win and one loss with a big Waikato derby this weekend in Ngaruawahia. We are probably favourites to win so hopefully we will come away with the points!

In terms of study, had a couple of exciting chats to a contact in Canada, likely to become my primary supervisor. He is a strength and conditioning coach with Canadian Soccer and their woman’s national team. He does a lot of work with GPS and IMA (inertial Motion Analysis) so I have been reading up a lot on those concepts. IMA basically allows us to monitor the acceleration and deceleration of an athlete. Where as GPS only tells us the ran so far at a certain speed. This allows for a far more detailed analysis of player movement and energy demands during a match or training. If anyone would like me to try and explain that better leave a comment and I could write something up focussing on the two concepts in the next couple of weeks.

It’s a lot to get my head around but it is very exciting. Hopefully will have things confirmed in the next little while as to what I will be doing and where it will be done.

Well hopefully the weather stays away for the long weekend, I couldn’t imagine anything worse than it pouring down with rain all weekend.

Have a safe Easter everyone!

Till next time..

Josh
